Director of Bands
Zach Bloom is a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and an alumnus of Central Dauphin High School. In 2015, Mr. Bloom received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from West Virginia University.
At West Virginia University, Mr. Bloom was a member of the Tuba Studio and performed with the “The Pride of West Virginia” – The Mountaineer Marching Band (including a tenure as the leader of the 25-musician Tuba Section), the WVU Pep Band, the WVU Wind Symphony, and the WVU Concert Band. During his time with these WVU Bands, Mr. Bloom grew to appreciate how the band can represent a school, a community, and an entire state.
Mr. Bloom student taught in Harrison County Schools, at Bridgeport Middle School and at Robert C. Byrd High School. He is very excited to begin his career in Harrison County working with the South Harrison High School Band and the South Harrison Middle School Band and is looking forward to a great year.
Assistant Band Director Emeritus
Sarah Kendall is a native of Charleston, West Virginia, where she attended George Washington High School. Mrs. Kendall is a graduate of West Virginia University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Masters in Education in 2009.
She has taught at South Harrison Middle School since 2009 and now teaches 8th grade English Language Arts. She is the 8th grade team leader and the Assistant Band Director for the South Harrison High School Band and the South Harrison Middle School Band.
Although Ms. Kendall has moved to a different part of West Virginia, she will always be part of our band program. She is very excited to hear about the South Harrison High School Band and the South Harrison Middle School Band and is looking forward to a great year, as well.
